The Sears Family Prayer Letter – May 2023

Dear supporters,

In the Rear View Mirror

Wow! What a fantastic month this has been! While the Weimer’s have been gone we have seen the church that they have worked so hard to build come together to keep it going. We have averaged our Icelandic children’s services at 30 each week and about 35 for the English services on Sunday. God has truly blessed us while they have been gone to see the workers here in this church work so hard to serve in the ministry. I have truly enjoyed the ability to preach and teach a few bible studies. God has especially blessed this month because yesterday the 29th of May I (Nathan) was able to lead my first Icelander to Christ! His name is Egill (ay-ik) and God provided the opportunity for me to show him the gospel plan of salvation. Please pray for him and his family as he grows in Christ. He has already expressed interest in being baptized, but we know that he will face resistance to his new found faith in Christ. Please pray that he becomes a faithful attendee of the services here and grows in the Lord.

The Road Ahead

June is the month in which we will hold our annual church camp. This has been a tremendous tool in years past to not only explain the gospel to these young people but show them throughout the week what it means to “Live the Life” which is the theme of the camp this year. At the end of the week we hold a award ceremony which the families of those who attended are invited to. We take this time to share with them what the children learned this week and the plan of salvation. We would greatly appreciate your prayers in this regard. There
have been many weeks of preparation for this outreach and more to come. We have purchases much of the required decorations, food, game supplies etc. for this week already and are greatly anticipating what God will do during this week. When Megumi and I came in 2018
we were able to help with Summer camp and saw the difference it made in the lives of the children and saw several saved. God has used this in the past and we trust that He will use it again to reach Iceland with the gospel.

Please pray for our family these next many months as we have just found out that we are expecting our second baby!
