Dear supporters,
In the Rear View Mirror
To encapsulate all that has happened here this month is absolutely impossible. We began this month helping Pastor Weimer finish construction on the future platform. Almost directly following its completion, we had another volcanic eruption. This was possibly the worst eruption so far from this series of eruptions. We lost our hot water supply because the lava flowed directly over the water supply pipeline feeding our peninsula. Because all homes in Iceland are heated by water radiators, this caused an extra load on the electrical grid since everyone was now heating their homes with electrical heaters. Because of the extra load, our part of town lost electricity for about 4 hours. Now our home had neither hot water nor electricity. Praise the LORD it was only out for a few hours. We have now purchased a generator that will allow us to power a heater our refrigerator and a few other items. We are actually expecting another eruption very soon, possibly within the next few days. We will keep you updated as things progress, if you are interested in staying up to date with more rapid updates, follow us on our Facebook page.
The Road Ahead
We are still raising funds for “Project Mark 2:5”. We are so excited to see how God uses this Van to “…enlarge my coast…” as Jabez prayed. The cost of the vehicle is 10,400,000 Icelandic Krona which is $75,251 at today’s exchange rate. We would appreciate your prayers for this project.
Fun Fact About Iceland
Iceland is home to over 130 volcanoes. Many of these are dormant or extinct, but clearly due to recent events, there are still some that are active. Most of the eruptions are what we call “tourist eruptions” meaning that they do no damage and just bring an influx of tourists to the area, however, the past two eruptions have caused some damage. The most recent cut our hot water supply, and the one prior to that burned down three houses.
Thank you for your prayers and continued support.
Sincerely,
The Sears Family
